Poem 6

I met her one night while typing away
No face, no voice, merely a name on my screen.
But still I pursued her, not knowing why
It all started with a harmless flirt it seems
I told her my name,
And then she gave me hers
Oh the beauty conveyed
Through such a simple word.
Bree came onto my screen
And soon into my heart
For of my life,
She became an integral part
Soon we swapped phone numbers
And her words gained a voice
Soon I realized I was falling in love
And in this I had no choice
Such beauty I'd never heard
Over my telephone
Of this I had only dreamed,
All the while I was alone
First a week, then two
Then a whole month had passed
Had my search finally ended
After all this time, at long last?
But then NO!
My dream began to crumble
As into my life
The truth did stumble
It seems that my love and dreams
Had been built on a base of quicksand
All of those beautiful words
Typed by two lying hands
At first I was bitter
And then I was forlorn
As my resignation did deepen
The whole world did I scorn
For in my heart,
She still does remain
For still her I do love
Even though it causes me such pain.
